The school also produced legal gurus such as Issa Sserunkuuma and politicians such as Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago and Singh Katongole.
But the impact of the school was probably no longer being felt as much. So, Abu Ssemakula Migadde, one of the former students, last year was inspired to bring together the alumni, to rekindle the former glory of the school.
His efforts were realised when the alumni pulled off a highly exciting reunion at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel on Saturday.
Although it was the first of its kind, the event was blissfull in all aspects. It attracted many prominent alumni, some of whom travelled from as far as the US, UK and Rwanda.
The presence of the school’s former headteacher, Haji Ssali Mohamood Zinaabala (1977-98) and veteran teacher of literature, Godfrey Katamujuna, made the alumni’s experiences even more vivid.
One thing that was evident throughout the function was the joy of the alumni and their strong resolve to reunite and work together to revive the glory of their school.
they enjoyed the sumptuous dinner, the alumni also were serenaded with cabaret musical entertainment from their own alumnus Betty Namaganda, as well as Band Flavour, Kitone Cultural Troupe and Deejay Alberto.
Alumnus Benon Kibuuka, the —night’s emcee, who is also president of the Performing Artists of Uganda, boosted the excitement of the function with his rib-cracking jokes.
